Devoted
to the practice of yoga since 2002 and a graduate of the YogaSpace
teacher training program, she sees yoga as a powerful and beneficial
practice that strengthens and supports individuals and communities.
Stephanie
specializes in Vinyasa, Hatha,Therapeutic/Restorative Yoga, Yin Yoga,
and Yoga Nidra, for both adults and youth. Stephanie also works with
specialized populations such as survivors of trauma, high risk youth and
youth with autism spectrum disorders.
Stephanie
brings an enthusiasm for self-exploration, imagination, care, and
connection to her classes. She focuses on weaving the fabric of the
breath through each movement, exploring and opening up to lines of
energy in the body and encouraging each individual to move into their
own therapeutic application of the pose.
Committed
to and passionate about yoga for youth, Stephanie teaches yoga to high
risk youth at SickKids, where she works as an art therapist. She has
witnessed beautiful, transformative experiences with youth through yoga.
Youth benefit from the shared experience of an age old practice that
brings to light an inherent sense of personal empowerment, positive
coping skills, self-acceptance and self-love. These are important tools
high risk youth can continue to cultivate, grow and impart throughout
their lives.
In partnership with YogaSpace, Stephanie recently developed the Warriors for Peace Karma class at YogaSpace benefiting New Leaf Yoga Foundation.
The Warriors for Peace class and YogaSpace's commitment to this class
resonates deeply with Stephanie. Stephanie believes that yoga programs
for at risk youth are beneficial as they give young people the
opportunity to develop an inner peace and share in this experience with
others. Please see Warriors for Peace for more information.
Through yoga and art modalities, Stephanie is
committed to fostering a balanced healthy lifestyle in all individuals.
